If You Need Pet Services, You Need Pack 'N Go!! We Love Them!!

Talk about a dedicated group of business owners. Pictured here is Lauren and her boyfriend waving cars into our Bid Barter and Bake sale. Not only do they provide a great service for those of us who really value our companion pets (see their website for details) but they were kind, compassionate people to be around. They jumped in to help us throughout the day and they were invaluable!. We can't wait to see them again and while I don't leave often I know where my dogs will be if I do!

The Cake To End All Other Cakes...!!

Our new best friend Nota Yannios-Juengst (Dolce Confections Simsbury CT, 860.338.4890) made this custom 4th of July dog theme cake on NO notice! It was absolutely spectacular and went to a very good home, the Downer's of Essex. If you would like a cake or any baked goods Nota also specializes in gluten free baked goods, give her a call you will not be disappointed!!!

Riggio's Gardent Center in Essex, CT

Our friend Cindy at Riggio's Garden Center in Essex, CT created two beautiful planters from our pretty shabby urns. Cindy is always creating something from nothing so if you need special planters or window boxes done, house warming gifts etc. go to Rggio's and ask to speak with Cindy!

Highlights from Last Weekend

The FABULOUS Leake sisters sold hand squeezed lemonade! How could you resist not buying ANYTHING from them much less delicious lemonade on a hot day?

We had so many wonderful baked goods for sale and we sold out of them all!

It's a shelter dog fundraiser so, yes, we'll sell the flowers from our gardens too!

What a Great Success, Thank You Everyone!

Well we ALMOST made it through Sunday without getting rained out but not quite. We met some great new friends and mingled with ones we already know and love. Our silent auction and bake sale goods were to DIE for and I'm proud to say we have very few crumbs left. A big hug to everyone who spent the time making the delicious cookies and desserts – smiles and a few extra pounds all around!

Our small town merchants, who are ALWAYS asked to donate, did so again, and we hope you'll show your appreciation for those businesses who support charities by shopping frequently in their aisles. Small businesses are the bedrock of our communities and we're forever grateful that they agree to help small charities in need.

I'll have a better update tomorrow with names and pictures but I wanted to get the note of thanks out tonight before I fall into bed - thank you to the best volunteers a non-profit could ever wish for, you're absolutely fantastic!

Look at the Ever Precious William!

William, a one year old boxer pit mix, was rescued from the Manhattan shelter hours before he was to be put down. Sarah and Heather drove to get him and bring him home to begin a life he finally deserves. Will had a tough beginning, his previous owner cut his ears off with a scissors and ultimately moved leaving him in an apartment alone without food or water. Will is gaining weight, learning some basic training and he's ready to find his forever home. Please consider taking William into your heart, you won't be disappointed! He'll be at the fundraiser this weekend so come meet him in person. Application and home visit will be required.

Lemonade Stand with Fresh, Handmade Lemonade!

Thanks to the Leake family, we'll be serving lemonade hand squeezed by the Leake sisters! Thank you!

A Great Big Thank You for the Tag Sale Drop Offs!

Nice to see our neighbors and friends driving in to drop off items for this weekend's tag sale, thank you! We still have room for more and it's going to be a great event with great silent auction items, killer deals and the FOOD! Someone asked if we would let kids have a lemonade stand, you bet, send me an email!

Who Would Cut This?

Dolce Mama Confections
Another creative and PATIENT person we're lucky to have represented at our Silent Auction, or Bake Sale? Doesn't matter because would anyone really cut into one of these? Dina's making a custom 4th of July cake with a dog theme – you KNOW you need this for your holiday table!!

Wicked Cute Handbags..

Handbags by Mandy Rahardjo
Um, so, I have NO CLUE how someone has the creativity to make handbags like this one but Mandy clearly does have a clue! We'll have some original Mandy in our Silent Auction, come visit and bid early, or - late?

Buy From People Who Love Dogs

By now we're all pretty familiar with the notion that we should buy products manufactured in America if we want to promote a healthier economy, and we should buy sustainable, and fairly traded items and all the better if they're locally produced. We would like to suggest one more 'best to buy' idea: buy from people who love dogs. Dog lovers (we call them 'Dogsters') are the kindest most compassionate people you'll have the pleasure of meeting OR doing business with so if you have the option, buy from them – you'll find them at our fundraisers and throughout the towns we visit for events.

Bid, Barter, Bake and Bark!

Bid, Barter, Bake and Bark is our community fundraiser to help pay for upcoming shelter dog adoption events. We have a great time working with caring community members who want to help save dogs in shelters. In the process we bring exposure to local businesses, get GREAT deals for shoppers and all the while earn money for our upcoming events – and that bake sale...YUM!

Dog Days is an all volunteer, community sponsored shelter dog adoption event funded solely through private donations and fundrasing. Last year through the efforts of volunteers around the state and the towns of Essex and Guilford over 240 shelter dogs found loving and forever homes! We're getting ready to do two more events this summer and at a cost of $3500 to $5000 per event we'll need to sell a lot of brownies!
